Will You Be My Valentine? / Desperation Day

,
Today, according to the wise Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother) is considered Desperation Day. A made up holiday of sorts that occurs on February 13, the day before Valentine's Day or in Barney's words when a "10" has the self-esteem of a "4" and the depraved enthusiasm of a "2." By definition, it is a day in which women franticly search for a man so they will not be alone on February 14th. Barney uses this to his advantage to find women and well, take advantage of their "desperation." Sorry Barney, but Desperation Day is useless to me. Even if I am boyfriendless (which I am) I will always have my three best friends (Marissa (bff), Lauren, and Emily). They are the three craziest, funniest people I know and I would rather spend a thousand Valentine's Days with them, than with any boy. Maybe I sound like I am trying to reassure myself that this is true but they understand what I mean and in reality, to me that is really all that matters.  Some of my best memories are with them. From Midnight Martis, to Greenway, to laughing about the Hot Chick and staying up late cracking up about embarassing things that have happened to us, I just wanted to say I love you guys so much, your the best friends a girl could ask for!  Now the only question left is......... Will you be my Valentine? <3

Worth A Listen

If your anything like I was as a pre-teen, you most likely listened to the music that came from your local popular radio station and what everyone else was listening to. You know, the same 5 songs they played over and over again one hundred times a day. So you would be sitting in the car and it would go something like this, Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry,  Ke$ha, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and so on. And while I have nothing against these singers (well maybe except for Ke$ha, no offense),  I wanted to branch away from these people and try new music and new genres so I could really find my musical style. As I got older I found that there is more to music than just what everyone else listens to. I began to find artists and groups who I had never heard of and these people I was finding deeply inspired me way more than the same old people who's songs get played over and over  on radio stations. Now I realize that the people who are getting credited for "Best Song" and "Best Album" don't necessarily deserve those titles because there are thousands of other artists and groups out there that aren't getting considered, simply because they haven't gained recognition yet. So I've listed a singers you should try out, some of them you may have heard of others maybe not.

Seeding Dandelion Nail Art How-To :)

Seeding Dandelion How-To
1. Paint nails a light gray (I recommend Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Wet Cement, $2.99 at Target)
2. Choose two of your nails, using a nail art brush or nail art pen, starting at the tip of the nail paint a slightly curving black line 3/4 of the way down the nail.
3. At the tip of the black line, paint wispy white lines in a circle to create the dandelion seeds.
4. When finished with the flower paint in wispy white lines around it to make it seem like seeds are falling off the flower.
5. On your remaining nails, starting from the cuticle paint wispy white lines 3/4 to 1/2 of the way up the nail. To create a more carefree effect paint the white lines in different directions, at different lengths and overlap them.
(Optional) 6. Apply a top coat.
